Chocolate Bread Pudding

Recipe file created November 8, 1999.
A nice rich chocolate dessert.

Preheat oven to 350 F. Use butter to grease a 10 to 12 cup casserole dish. Heat cream in a saucepan over medium heat. Add chocolate and almonds. Reduce heat and melt chocolate. Remove from heat. In mixing bowl, beat eggs. Gradually pour the chocolate mixture into the eggs while beating. Pour half of this mixture into the casserole. Slice Babka. Place slices into casserole. Pour remaining chocolate mixture over top. Cover and place casserole into a larger pan, putting 2 inches of hot water into the second pan. Bake 40 minutes. Uncover casserole and bake a further 10 minutes until custard is set but not firm. Serve warm.

Do not let the cream boil. It just needs to be hot enough to melt the chocolate.
